How to hang a painting or a mirror
- Pick the spot and mark it with a pencil
- Measure from the floor so both sides are at the same height. The center of a painting is often placed at about eye level
- Use a spirit level or a level app on your phone
- Check what your wall is made of. Concrete needs a drill with a masonry bit and a wall plug. A gypsum or hollow wall needs a plug made for hollow walls
- Choose a fixing that holds more than the weight of the item. A heavy mirror needs more than one fixing
- Hang it and check it again with the level
How to mount a TV
- Check the weight and size your wall bracket can hold. It must be more than your TV
- Find the right height. Sit down first and look at the wall. The middle of the screen should be near your eye level
- Use a detector to check for pipes and wires behind the wall before you drill
- Mark the holes with a level and drill them
- Fix the bracket firmly
- Ask a second person to help lift the TV and hang it on the bracket
